Missed Opportunities: NGOs and the United Nations International Decade for Natural Disaster Reduction

International concern to the natural disasters all over the world led to the creation of the United Nations (UN) International Decade for Natural Disaster Reduction (IDNDR) with an objective to reduce the impact of disasters through concerted international action. The goals were to improve each country's capacity for dealing with the problem and devising appropriate guidelines and strategies for applying scientific and technical knowledge.
