Wideband low noise receiver front-end module using LTCC triplexer

This paper describes the design and measurement of a wideband low noise receiver front-end module. It consists of a low noise receiver front-end IC and a low loss triplexer fabricated using low temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) technology. The receiver front-end IC was fabricated using 0.25 SiGe BiCMOS process technology and consists of wideband variable gain low noise amplifiers and down-conversion mixers. The LTCC triplexer is composed of low-pass, band-pass, and high-pass filters. To realize a compact size, the band-pass filter uses parallel resonant circuits based on multilayer inductors. The module can concurrently receive triple-band signals ranging in frequency from 300 MHz to 3 GHz. The module is 10 × 10 mm in size and less than 1 mm thick. The measured noise figure was under 4.4 dB and the conversion gain was around 26 dB at the target frequencies of 300 MHz, 900 MHz, and 2.4 GHz.
