The Construction of Learner-centered Teaching Model of College English

College English Curriculum Requirements states that teachers should pay much attention to the principal role of students in college English classroom teaching. This paper analyses the disadvantages of the traditional teaching model and promotes learner-centered teaching model which emphasizes the following five aspects in the process of teaching. Teachers should regard students as the focus of classroom teaching; teachers should stimulate learners’ interest in learning English, to cultivate learners’ awareness of autonomous learning, to guide learners self-learning after class and to evaluate learners’ learning process.
