Recently, the utilization of BIM technology that expresses the visual status of the construction progress with the integration of activity schedule and site management information into the 3D object model is being increased in the railway construction project. However, the main functions of current BIM system are focused on building project consisting of vertical work in a limited space, so it is difficult to use in the railway construction work which is performed by linear operations in a wide site area. This study suggests a BIM-based project management framework and construct a modularized system of detailed functions such as 4D-based schedule management and field management with a specialized function for the railway construction project.
