A Study on the Model of Dynamical Theory of Marine Towed and Tethered Cable Systems

A three dimensional finite segment model for towed and tethered cable system is established. This model consists of s series of pin connected rods which may have different physical properties and the cable may have many open or closed branches.Effects of fluid drag, added mass and buoyancy are discussed. The comparisons and analysis are made between the added mass forces, moments and the inertia of the system itself..This model is expected to be applied to the dynamical simulation of the marine towed and tethered cable system.
