Engineering a telemetric temperature indicator using UHF radio

Low power transmit and receive modules controlled in frequency by Surface Acoustic Wave Resonators cut for the lower UHF band are now readily available for radio telemetry applications. A linear temperature transmitter with a sensor intended for longterm axillary placement is discussed, along with a simple hardware display capable of 0.1" resolution. Preliminary data indicating the advantage of this technique over traditional clinical thermometry are presented.
