Optimization of technical measures to reduce noise burden in the neighbourhood of roads: Final report

The project was aimed at research in the field of the influence of road surfaces on traffic noise. Suitable road segments with different surfaces were selected for realizing measurements. During running the project the number of the segments was increased to achieve larger and more comprehensive data sets. Several measurements options were verified for the SPB measurements. Especially the safer and more effective measurement procedure, which uses the camera system for subsequent measurement revisions, was applied for the SPB measurements. For the CPX measurements, based on the international experience, the own measurement trailer was designed. This trailer is protected by the utility model, the special attention was laid on optimizing the measurement procedure and adapting to the new reference tyres. The achieved results from the measurements on particular road surfaces by both the methods were analyzed and compared. Based on the findings from the SPB and CPX noise measurements, the methodology instruction for application of the SPB and CPX measurements was worked out.
