The converter transformer is a vital equipment in the HVDC transmission system, which connects a DC system and an AC system. In another word, it will withstand many kinds of yoltages, such as AC, DC, AC+DC, poplarity reversal voltage. The converter transformer will have a higher fault ratio when withstanding a poplarity reversal voltage. So more and more experiments on characteristics of converter transformer are carried out by researchers home and abroad. But the results are perfect, there is no systematic theory until now. In this paper, Ansys software is used to establish the model of oil-paper insulation placed between to plate electrodes to simulate electric field distribution under poplarity reversal voltage. Three temperature points are used to simulate the influence of different insulation resistivity values on the electric field distribution of oil-paper insulation under different temperatures.
