Time method design for synthesizing UWB filter

A new design method of an Ultra Wideband (UWB) bandpass filter (BPF) over 3 GHz to 10 GHz is presented. The UWB filter is realized by stepped impedance lines fabricated in microstrip topology. The proposed design method is an analytical technique based on a temporal approach providing the automatic calculation of a nonuniform transmission line profile. The filter is analyzed using electric and electromagnetic simulators. In order to validate the suggested method, the design, fabrication and measurement of a microstrip UWB BPF are presented. Areas of improvement are also considered using combination of stubs.
