The skid resistance between pavement surface and tire acts important role securing driving safety as basic element that control braking distance. Therefore, pavement surface has to keep maintain adequate skid resistance level during the performance period. In the case of concrete pavement, skid resistance is affected by several factors of curing method, climate, moisture state of pavement surface, property of aggregate etc, and it is decreased due to wearing and polishing tire and pavement surface. To establish proper pavement management plan, forecasting the loss of skid resistance of pavement is needed. However, reasonable model to forecast change of skid resistance due to surface texture wear is not presented yet. The proposed study is to develop a reasonable method to predict the change of skid resistance of tinned pavement, which is typical in Korea as well as overseas. Based on multi-year skid resistance measurement from LTPP-data potential factors that may influence the rate of skid resistance loss are investigated. As a result, an equation that can predict the skid resistance change in tinned concrete pavement is suggested.
