Design and Comparison Between PSFB and LLC 400/48V DC/DC Stage for On-Board Battery Charger During Total and Partial CC-CV Charging Cycles

This paper compares a Full Bridge LLC Resonant Converter with a Phase Shifted Full Bridge Quasi-Resonant Converter used as a DC/DC stage for a 3 kW 400/48 V On-Board Charger. Considering a constant-current constant-voltage (CC-CV) charging cycle, aspects such as feasibility of achieving zero voltage switching for different loads, efficiency evaluation for different ranges of battery state of charge, component stress and sizing are investigated. To support considerations and results, simulations are carried out on MATLAB/Simulink and LTspice software.
