Desenvolvimento das fases imaturas, aspectos reprodutivos e potencial de predação de Chrysoperla externa (Hagen) alimentada com ninfas de Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) biótipo B em tomateiro

The biological aspects and predatory potential of Chrysoperla externa (Hagen) larvae fed on the fourth instar nymphs of Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) biotype B at densities of 100, 160, 220 and 280 were evaluated. The trials were conducted at 25±1oC, 70±10% RH and 12h photophase. The development period of the first, second and third instars of C. externa larvae did not differ in relation to the prey density and the survival rate ranged from 90 to 100%. The periods of pre-oviposition, oviposition and effective oviposition were 5.1, 56.8 and 51.4 days, respectively with daily and total fertilities of 11.9 and 711.8 eggs/female. The embryonic period was of 4.0 days and the survival rate 90.8%. The consumption in the four prey densities was of 44.6; 69.9; 68.3 and 107.8 nymphs; 83.1; 168.4; 203.3 and 288 nymphs and 341.3; 579.3; 697.3 and 1,006.3 nymphs for C. externa larvae of first, second and third instars, respectively.
