Philosophy and Strategy of Minimalism-based User Created Robots (UCRs) for Educational Robotics - Education, Technology and Business Viewpoint

We introduce the basic concept of minimalism-based User Created Robots (UCRs). The key principles are Minimum Intricacy (MI), Minimum Cost (MC), and Minimum Development Time (MD). We define the target UCR and differentiate its service points from the current status of educational robotics. The objectives of using UCRs are explained from the viewpoint of education and business. We also specify educational UCR categories: User Created Task Robotics (UC-TR), Art Robotics (UC-TR), CR (Cyber Robotics) with an Input Device (ID) and an Output Device (OD). These categories cover almost all possible UCR areas. The categories for UCR realization are presented from both hardware and software perspectives. The categorization gives us a clear insight for standardization rules. A standardization strategy is proposed with the realization categories and with the UCR principal agents, the Committee and the Makers. The importance of maintaining compatibility is explained in that it can exponentially increase the UCR candidates. The key issues of strategy for standardization are a systematic procedure and fluent communication between the UCR principal agents.
