A different way to teach reading a clockface involves more than 'telling time'. It incorporates the notion of 'time passing' alongside 'telling the time' and encourages conceptual understanding of this topic. This approach deals with o'clock times and 'minutes past the hour' through an integrated approach. Time is developed in the context of classroom activities and is extended to address time in everyday settings. They learn to tell the time by making sense of the clockface (Pengelly, 1985). The pre-service student teacher, Abi White, embarked on a journey with a Year 2 class that explored this idea.
