Embryonic-fetal toxicity and teratogenic effects of adipic acid esters in rats.

Abstract Seven adipates (dimethyl, diethyl, dipropyl, diisobutyl, di-n-butyl, di-2-ethylhexyl, and dicyclohexyl) were evaluated for their embryonic-fetal toxicity and teratogenic effects in rats, and the results were compared to those of a previous study with phtha- late esters. The data suggest that the adipates are less teratogenic than the comparable phthalates when administered during gestation in equivalent fractions of the respective I.D 50 doses.
