An Empirical Investigation into Assessing the Success of eGovernment Systems

New information and communication technologies offer the governments with new possibilities for providing citizens and businesses with timely, efficient and costeffective services. People, especially in the developed world, are increasingly interacting with governments through government-to-citizen (G2C) systems. It is, therefore, important to identify success factors for G2C eGovernment systems from the citizens’ perspective. Based on Wang and Liao’s IS success model, this study investigates the factors that affects the success of G2C systems from the citizens’ perspective. Data collected from 149 users of eGovernment gateway in Bahrain were analyzed. Pearson correlation analysis and multiple regression were used to examine the relationship between different success factors. The results show that system characteristics such as information quality, system quality, service quality, use, user satisfaction, and perceived net benefit are valid measures of eGovernment systems success. In terms of user characteristics, the results show that the user age is only factor that affects the success of eGovernment systems
