Excitations of bulk and surface plasmons in solids and nanostructures

In this work, recent studies on the interaction of charged particles with bulk and surface plasmons in systems ranging from macroscopic to nanoscopic scales are summarized. The differences and similarities that arise when the size of the system is modified are analyzed. In particular, the strong interference effects in the excitation of plasmons that arise from the interaction of particles with nanoscale systems are discussed.
