Construction and analysis of polynomial iterative methods for non-hermitian systems of linear equations

This thesis contributes to the development of the rapidly growing field of polynomial iterative methods (PIMs) for systems of linear equations. Our main contributions are the construction and analysis of the ABF method, a new hybrid PIM, and new convergence results for GMRES, a well-known parameter-free PIM. We furthermore derive a new polynomial preconditioner from the iteration polynomials of the ABF method.
