PERFORMANCE OPTIMIZATIONOF THINFILMOPTICAL INTERFERENCEFILTERSFOR OPTICALCOMMUNICATION SYSTEMS

WDM andDWDM applications require specific filter characteristics andsetofoptimization methods whichisthecore ofthis paper. Theoptimization parameters are; thelayer's structure, theindices ofrefraction, andtheir thicknesses. Inthis paper, methods tooptimize theoptical filter performanceareintroduced. Ripples, andwidth ofthereflection andtransmission regions forbandpassfilters arethemain performance measures that arediscussed inthis paper. An optimization algorithm isimplemented toenhance theripples behavior inbothsides ofthehighreflectance regions. Another optimization algorithm isimplemented andusedto widenthehighreflectance zoneandthesimulation results arepresented inthis paper. Transmission region width is controlled using aspecial optimization algorithm that isimplemented andapplied inthis paper. Thesimulation results after therejection ofone, two,ormorerejection lines layin thehigh transmission bandarediscussed.
