Information literacy program for student athletes at The University of Iowa

Abstract This article describes the goals, content, and history of a program in The University of Iowa Libraries for teaching library and information literacy skills to incoming men and women student athletes. The program employs interactive instructional methods with a strong emphasis on developing skills both for finding and for evaluating information sources. The article traces the evolution and goals of the program, describes current efforts, and provides an assessment of the value of the librarians' work with student athletes.
