Shaking table model testing of TMD shock absorbing characteristics considering soil-structural interaction effects

Shaking table model tests of TMD suppressing vibration control considering soil structural interaction(SSI) effects are designed and carried out. The TMD cushioning effects on the main structure on the rigid base and soft soil are analyzed through these tests and effects of SSI on structure are discussed. It is point out that the earthquake response of the main structure of structure TMD system on soft soil is regarded as the results of common action of SSI effect, TMD cushioning effect and the coupling effect of SSI and TMD. The effects of three factors on the earthquake response of the main structure are analyzed under different load working conditions. The results dedicate that SSI have great effects on the performance of TMD. So, the suppressing vibration control effects of TMD designed on the condition of rigid base are not satisfied in soft soil condition. Some facts relative to TMD cushioning effect on the rigid base and soft soil are discussed.
