The invention relates to a picture display system, comprising a search engine, a data analysis module, a front-end display module, wherein the search engine receives query conditions of a user to carry out search and return results conforming to the query conditions; the data analysis module receives and analyzes subsets of news events with pictures in the results, and selecting pictures larger than a first threshold; and the front-end display module displays the selected pictures. By the unique picture display system and the display method, the picture display system and the display method thereof of the invention meet the requirement of the user to pictures with big events and improve the user experience.
