Cylindricity and its measurement

Abstract Out-of-Cylindricity has always been a useful geometric parameter and its use is becoming more widespread. Along with this increase in use, has been an increasing awareness of the limitations of current instrumentation in measuring cylindricity. This paper will analyse the limitations of current instrumentation and measurement techniques with respect of cylindricity. The paper also suggests areas for both addressing these limitations, whilst also developing the use of the parameter.
