Low complexity MPPT techniques for PV module converters

The paper discusses three maximum power point tracking (MPPT) techniques: voltage linear reference, ripple correlation and incremental conductance. Their minimum complexity makes them ideal candidates for low cost on-chip integration and suggests their employment in photovoltaic (PV) module applications. The basic operating principle, the main limitations and the expected effectiveness of each technique are illustrated. Experimental verification of the attainable performance from proof of concept circuit implementations is also provided.
