Uses of iterative constraint satisfaction for binary phase detour digital holograms

Abstract The application of iterative methods to binary cell detour computer generated holograms allows many useful manipulations of the hologram structure. This paper presents two such manipulations that may be useful to perform on binary holograms. One application may find use as a document security device, allowing one two-dimensional picture to contain a second secret image replayed on optical reconstruction. The second method may be used to tailor binary holograms for efficient plotting on electron beam lithography machines. The results for test holograms in these two areas are presented.
