Impedance tomography: imaging algorithms for geophysical applications

Develops inversion algorithms for use in geophysical applications of electric impedance tomography. Perturbation methods are employed to relate the Fourier transform of the measured surface voltage to the Fourier Laplace transform of the subsurface conductivity. A Tychonov regularization procedure is used to effect the (ill-posed) Laplace inverse transformation. The authors discuss the wavenumber information obtainable for several inversion geometries (placements of injection and monitoring electrodes), and compare the present results with those obtainable from wave-based diffraction tomography.
