The Design of a Control Circuit for a Two-Quadrant Chopper Based on the Motorola 6800 Microprocessor

A procedure for writing an M6800 program to produce control signals for a two-quadrant positive-voltage, positive- and negative-current dc-dc converter is given. A flowchart and program listing are provided. It is shown that very little hardware in addition to the basic microprocessor system is required for the implementation of the program. A comparison is made with designs using conventional circuits, and an indication is given as to how the procedure can be extended to the control of other power circuits.
