A Dedicated Heuristic Approach for SU(4) Quantum Circuits

This chapter provides a more elaborated approach for mapping a certain kind of random circuits (introduced by IBM in context of their Qiskit Developer Challenge), which is composed of a pre-processing step to reduce the complexity beforehand, an actual mapping step, as well as dedicated post-processing that reduces the costs of the mapped circuit. The resulting solution was declared winner of the challenge mentioned above because it consistently produces circuits with at least 10% better cost than the competition and is more than 6 times faster than all the others.
