Robot-Environment Interaction

Generally speaking, a robot can physically interact with the environment by the sequential execution of two actions: that of achieving a suitable contact configuration, and the subsequent motion required by the task. Although contacts can be potentially performed with any part of the body, in this work we focus only on those tasks performed using the hand exclusively. The set of contacts generated by the hand on a particular object compose what we call a grasp.
