A Novel Weighted Channel Estimation Scheme for WCDMA Downlink

A novel weighted estimation scheme for WCDMA (FDD) Downlink channel is proposed where a common pilot channel is simultaneously transmitted with dada traffic channels. According to the proposed scheme, channel information is exploited from both CPICH (common pilot channel) and DPCCH (dedicated physical control channel) by combining channel estimates from these two channels. Computer simulation results show that using the proposed scheme, the accuracy of channel estimation is enhanced compared to the traditional method using only CPICH, and the performance of the Rake receiver is improved effectively, especially when the CPICH is in deep fade.
