Sheduling optimization of wind power generation with pumped storage hydro plant

In order to take full advantages from renewable energy sources; we propose combination between a wind power source and a pumped storage hydro power station taking into account electricity market framework. A scenario is proposed which defines programmed power demand and energy price. An operation optimization scheduling strategy is integrated. This strategy of scheduling requires in priority wind power forecasting. The final objective target system optimal size based on “day-ahead” planning, in order to minimize the penalty cost for any imbalance between the contracted and delivered energy. Simulation results show the importance of scheduling strategy that provides participation with the correct economic incentives.
