Luminescence and scintillation properties of YAG:Pr

In this communication we report on scintillation and spectroscopic properties of YAG crystals activated with Pr/sup 3+/ ions. Light yield of this material was found to be dependent on level of activation and best results are achieved for nominal Pr concentration of 0.24%. Spectroscopic results reveal many effects which can be explained in the frame of recombinational model of YAG:Pr scintillation.
