The study on standing tree measurement based on image processing embedded in a smartphone

This paper tackles the problem of single standing tree measurement based on image processing embedded in a smartphone. A smartphone with camera and a benching marking were used in our method. Before the tree photo was taken, a cross marking label with red colored ends was leaned on the tree, close and parallel to the tree trunk. After the marking points were extracted, the image was corrected by a rectification of oblique photography. Lastly, the tree elementary factors were calculated. The experimental results show that the relative measurement error is low enough, so it is a viable method.
