A Modified Buck-Boost Zero Voltage Switching Converter for Photo-voltaic Applications

Modified buck boost converter with abridged ripple in the output voltage has been proposed. The converter is achieved from altering the existing two switch buck boost converter with zero voltage switching incorporated. The optimum selection of turn ON duration of altered two switch buck boost converter enables to operate in buck, boost, buck boost modes. The zero voltage switching (ZVS) is achieved by combing the auxiliary circuit with modified two switch buck boost converter. The proposed converter provides isolation between the ports of input and output, reduced switching voltage stress, reduced power loss with freedom of selecting gate signal and higher efficiency. The proposed converter performance has been validated in both in MATLAB/Simulink solver and digital controlled prototype model and the voltage control through ZVS is effectively validated.
