A Video Gateway to Support Video Streaming to Mobile Clients

This paper describes how video streaming from or to mobile participants of a video conference can be supported by a so called “Mobility Gateway“. The gateway interconnects a mobile client, through a wireless link, to a fixed network LAN or WAN multicast environment and performs intelligent operations on the video stream like transcoding, congestion control etc. in order to provide the mobile user with enhanced video services.
