Novel Network Protocol for WSN Based on Energy and Distance

Wireless sensor network (WSN) is a special type of network formed from a large amount of wireless sensor nodes with energy, memory and processing constraint factors. Utilization of energy and enhancing network lifetime is a challenging task. The proposed cluster based routing algorithm selects cluster heads on the basis of two critical factors: the node’s energy and distance to base station (BS). Cluster heads transmit data to the BS by single-hop or multi-hop due to the distance to BS. Computer simulation shows that the proposed algorithm performs with lower energy consumption and longer life time than LEACH.
