Study on Microstructure and Properties of Nano-structured ZrO2-Y2O3-La2O3 Thermal Barrier Coating

The powder of nano-ZrO2-8wt%Y2O3(nano-8YSZ) and doped with different content nanoscale La2O3 in the nano-8YSZ was agglomerated by spray drying process and then its heat treatment was carried out.The NiCrAlY(Ni-25Cr-5Al-0.5Y,wt%) alloy was used as the bonding coating.Thermal barrier coating of different kinds of materials was prepared by atmospheric plasma spray(APS) coating technology.The phase composition,microstructure and properties of the coating were analyzed.The results show that only stable t-phase exists in the coating and the typical microstructure of plasma-sprayed coatings are observed in the coating.The coating doped with nano-La2O3 can reduce the thermal conductivity and the adhesion strength increases with the increase of the content of La2O3.
