The information environment of managers

The authors analyze the information behaviors of managers in terms of a model of their information environment . The model is composed of those factors tha view managers as people who work in a specific setting (the organization), take on various roles, and carry out various activities. The model posits that the problematic situations managers face are influenced by these factors and the perceieved importance of different problem dimensions that affect how information is valued. The components of the model are used as the framework for reviewing the literature, with the intent of showing how these factors affect information seeking and use by managers.
