The Menopause Rating Scale:a comparision study with modified Kupperman Index and Greene Scale

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of the Menopause Rating Scale(MRS) for scoring symptoms of perimenopausal and postmenopausal women by comparison with the modified Kupperman index and Greene climacteric scale. Methods A population sample of 157 perimenopausal and postmenopausal women who had been selected from the gynecological outpatient of our hospital completed the questionnairs of the MRS,the modified Kupperman index and Greene climacteric scale from March,2005 to September,2005.Results A comparison result of the MRS with the modified Kupperman index showed a high correlation of raw scores(r=0.785,P0.01).There was a strikingly positive association between the MRS and Greene Scale(r=0.864,P0.01).Conclusions The MRS is a valuable modern tool for assessment symptoms of perimenopausal and postmenopausal women. The MRS could serve as suitable instrument for evaluation the life quality of perimenopausal and postmenopausal women.
