Model assisted time-varying MIMO channel estimation

A novel model assisted channel estimation scheme is proposed to estimate the time-varying MIMO channel. The core idea is that the large number of channel coefficients needed to be estimated by the time-varying channel can be significantly reduced by employing a specific channel model. Two channel models, general basis expansion model and Slepian sequence model, are utilized to estimate the MIMO channel in this paper. The simulation results show that the performance of the proposed scheme is excellent at moderate to high SNR region and that no error-floor is induced when the channel fading is fast.
