Magnetic Flux Leakage Monitoring System for the Broken Wire of Locked Coil Wire Rope

Broken wire was a vital disadvantage for quality assurance of locked coil wire rope. A nondestructive system for monitoring broken wires in production line was designed, which based on the magnetic character of locked coil wire rope. The system that applied leakage flux theory consisted of testing sensor, signal acquisition unit, computer system and unit for alerting and marking. Intelligent signal processing was applied in the system for effective discrimination of broken wire and subsequent processing. The reliability of the system was proved by the results from laboratory and factory.
