Potential and Electric Field Distributions of Modular Multi-break Vacuum Circuit Breaker

In order to analyze the potential distributions of modular multi-break vacuum circuit breaker,formed with fiber-controlled vacuum circuit modules,and electric field distributions of vacuum interrupters,three-dimensional finite element models of modular triple-break vacuum circuit breakers were established.The potential distributions of the triple-break modular vacuum circuit breakers with vertical arrangement and U-shaped arrangement were obtained by using the finite element method(FEM),and the sub-model method was adopted to analyze the electric field distributions interior the vacuum interrupters.The potential distributions of the triple-break vacuum circuit breakers under AC power frequency voltage were also measured.The comparison of the calculated and tested results indicate that,under vertical and U-shaped arrangement,the relative errors between calculated and tested results of high voltage break are lower than 4.5%,the voltage distribution of triple-break vacuum circuit breaker is non-uniform,and the voltage distribution of high voltage break is more than 60%,and suitable voltage sharing measures are needed.The calculated and tested results can be a reference for static and dynamic insulation characteristics design of multi-break vacuum circuit breaker,the optimization design of vacuum interrupter,and the modules arrangement of multi-break vacuum circuit breaker.
