Modeling and simulation of different system topologies for dynamic voltage restorer using Simulink

In this paper, three different system topologies for dynamic voltage restorers (DVRs) are modeled and tested using Simulink'SimPowerSystem Toolbox for power system quality studies. The DVR controls are based on hysteresis voltage control. Simulation tests on radial distribution system, equipped with the DVR under three-phase and single-phase voltage sags with phase jump, are used to verify the operation of different DVR topologies. The modeled DVR topologies can be used to develop and test different, control strategies and methods for the DVR. These models can also aid instructors in teaching power quality courses.
