COMPUTATION OF INTERNAL AEROACOUSTICS OF CENTRIFUGAL FAN FOR ICING IN REFRIGERATOR

Internal aeroacoustics of centrifugal fans used for icing in a refrigerator are computed using the hybrid method where CFD, acoustic analogy and BEM techniques are utilized. The unsteady flow field in a duct including the centrifugal fan is predicted by solving the incompressible RANS equations with the conventional CFD techniques. Then, main noise sources are extracted from this flow field predictions using Acoustic Analogy. Finally, BPF noise is predicted using these modelled sources combined with the tailed Green function techniques, which are numerically solved by the BEM technique. Then relative contributions of source mechanisms to overall sound levels are assessed.
