Apparatus and method for puncturing and recovering symbol in band-spreading communication system

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for puncturing and recovering a symbol in a spread spectrum communications system are provided to estimate correctly a punctured part by puncturing partially repeated symbols. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for puncturing and recovering a symbol in a spread spectrum communications system includes a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter includes a channel encoder(111), a symbol repetition unit(113), a code puncturer(115), and an interleaver(117). The channel encoder(111) is used for generating symbol data by encoding the transmission data. The symbol repetition unit(113) outputs repeatedly the symbol data as much as the predetermined number. The code puncturer(115) is used for inputting the repeated symbol data and the inserting data, puncturing a part of the repeated symbol data, and inserting the data into the punctured symbol blocks. The interleaver(117) is used for interleaving the output of the code puncturer. The receiver includes a deinterleaver for deinterleaving the received data, a recovery unit for recovering the symbol data, and a channel decoder for decoding the output of the recovery unit.
