Stiffened plates in bending

Abstract A semianalytical method developed by the author for the analysis of bare plates has been extended to the static analysis of stiffened plates. Both concentric and eccentric stiffeners have been considered. Deposition of the stiffener eccentric to the plate gives rise to axial and bending displacements in the middle plane of the plate. Three coupled differential equations are resulted due to this. These are solved by the semianalytic method. Rectangular stiffened plates having various boundary and loading conditions and also possessing varying type and number of stiffeners have been analysed by the proposed method. Comparison with published results indicates good agreement.
