Engaging with E-Learning: Trialling a New Learning Activity Management System (LAMS) in Australia

The Learning Activity Management System (LAMS) is new authoring software designed to support collaborative, activity-driven learning. This paper reports on a pilot study of the implementation of LAMS in different disciplines at University level and in different grades and subjects at Australian schools. The results suggest that LAMS is an extraordinarily adaptable system that can be used effectively in many educational contexts. From a teacher perspective it appears that the opportunity for student collaboration LAMS affords, and the motivation and engagement it inspires, make it a learning system worth consideration.
