Trends Affecting the Prevalence of Visual Impairment and Demand for Services

Jan Barron, a teacher of students with visual impairments in Academy District #20 in Colorado Springs, CO, was named a 1998 recipient of the Milken Family Foundation Award. The award is reserved for educators who have demonstrated high excellence. Cathleen A. Wirts was appointed the new director of program development for the Jewish Guild for the Blind. Ms. Wirts' prior experience includes serving as director of managed care and finance for the Healthcare Association of New York State's Continuing Care Services.
