Although fuel-eell was invented in 1830, its intensive development took place in the last decades ofXX century. Theoretical background offuel-eell operationhave been given. Application of fuel-eell to automotive vehicles as a prime mover and as auxiliary energy source have been shown. Three main types of fuel-eell: hydrogen, methanol and gasoline are discussed.
