REVIEW OF IMAGE ENHANCEMENT TECHNIQUES USING HISTOGRAM EQUALIZATION

Image enhancement is one of the challenging issues in low level image processing. Contrast enhancement techniques are used for improving visual quality of low contrast images. Histogram Equalization (HE) method is one such technique used for contrast enhancement. In this paper, various techniques of image enhancement through histogram equalization are overviewed. To evaluate the effectiveness of the methods illustrated, we have used the PSNR, tenengrad, and contrast as parameters. These parameters show that how the results vary on applying different techniques of enhancement.
